A concrete tassel decorated with sumptuous trimmings from the mercier and passementier of Paris. Each tassel is individually cast by hand and every one comes out of the mould differently, making each cast quite individual. The concrete mix is also varied in terms of texture and colour. This rawness is intriguingly at odds with the delicate, carefully detailed originals and the soft trimmings.
We took the lid from a Victorian music cabinet to create this stunning piece, finished in a matte pale ash grey. The tassel has been wound with a vintage fuschia embroidery thread and a vintage green velvet ribbon. The addition of a fabulously delicate little vintage gold mesh button and a vintage green silk cord, which trails over the edge of the frame, has come together to create a fabulous sculptural piece.
